Sometimes there's nothing better than sitting down to a good puzzle. People have been doing it for years with crossword puzzles and Sudoku in newspapers. Nowadays, we use smartphones to play puzzles, but the games haven't changed too much. Nadoku is like Sudoku with a minimalist twist. It's easy at first, but the game gets increasingly difficult.
Like Sudoku, Nadoku has a grid and numbers, but that is where the similarities end. The idea of the game is to match the number of dots in a column to the number at the top. The dots move in rows that can be looped around. Your job is to move the rows left and right to get the correct number of dots in every column. It feels sort of like hacking a lock.
Each level has a number of moves to shoot for. If you can complete the grid in fewer moves you're awarded a star for the level. Nadoku starts with a simple 4×3 grid, but you can also play 5×4 and 6×5. There are nearly 300 levels in total. If you're having trouble with a level (you will), you can use a hint. You can buy more hints and remove ads with an in-app purchase.
Nadoku is minimally designed and simple to play. It's like if Sudoku was reimagined for touch screen devices. It feels more like hacking a lock than writing numbers in a grid. The game starts very easy, but the difficulty ramps up pretty quickly. Earning stars is a nice incentive to choose your moves wisely, but it's not required to pass a level. The ads can be annoying if you're not willing to spend $0.99 to remove them. If you love puzzles, Nadoku is worth a try.
